Digestibility of Different Plant-derived Oils and their Influence on Fatty Acid Composition in the Liver and Muscle of Juvenile Common Carp (Cyprinus Carpio)

We evaluated the digestibility of plant oils and their influence on growth fatty acid composition in common carp. Apparent coefficients (ADC) lipids were determined carp (200.2 ± 40.0g) fed with cod liver oil (CLO), linseed (LO), sunflower (SFO), or sesame (SO). A 96-day trial was then conducted using six isolipidic (from 100 to 101 g/kg diet) diets, namely CLO, LO, SFO, SO, two blends (SLO = SO + LO; SSFO SFO). Lipid ADC values (0.920-0.972) similar slightly lower oil-based diets than CLO-based diet. Growth feed efficiency (FE) not influenced by dietary lipids. The profile muscle reflected those EPA DHA proportions higher LO SLO-fed fish other groups, CLO-fed (P <0.05). Higher EPA, DHA, n3/n6 ratio levels (LO) diet, as compared ideal for human health suggest that it can be used a suitable alternative oil.
